Accountant Reenactors Experience Recruitment Slump

Reenactors

Reenactors recreate a favorite set-piece accounting session from the historic Enron period.

July 12, 2009

You've probably seen them drilling out in a green field on a hot summer day, wearing their homemade period costumes and brandishing authentic-looking adding machines and ledgers, and Lotus 1-2-3 manuals.

They're accounting reenactors of course, who help to preserve an exciting and valuable account of our history.

But lately they've been experiencing a decline in interest in the hobby, and the number of new enthusiasts is not enough to keep the ranks from thinning.

It was the blockbuster movie Force: Accountant from Navarone released in 1986, which swelled the ranks of accounting reenactors in the late 1980's, their imaginations fired by terse action-packed scenes that followed in the tradition of the earlier and very popular Navarone movies: (The Guns of Navarone - 1961, Force 10 from Navarone - 1978).

Biff Numerocrunch appears in the famous action-packed "securing the bridgehead" scene from 'Force: Accountant.' This scene alone is thought to have drawn in thousands of accounting reenactors in the late 1980's.
