New Outdoor Helmet Law Goes Into Effect Across Britain |

February 28th, 2010 Source The Daily Telautograph The first of Britain's much anticipated new helmet laws go into effect March 1st of this year. Starting tomorrow, safety helmets will be required for anyone venturing out of doors in an all out effort to reduce the severity of so-called 'plein air' accidents. While helmetless citizens will not be ticketed by the police initially, hefty fees will start to be levied after a three month grace period. Then starting in January of 2011 helmets will also be required for indoor activities, although this date is not firm as there are still some unresoved helmet design issues. For example, when working in the back garden will a simple garden helmet suffice if one should perchance to enter a small shed? That's because sheds represent a dangerous tool-laden environment of trowels, rakes, coiled hoses and pruning shears. Great quandary also surrounds proposed designs for the so-called 'loo' helmet as well as various 'pet interaction' helmets. |
