August 31st, 2009 The chupacabra specimen collected by a taxidermist in West Texas is most likely just a walrus with the mange according to DNA testing recently performed. "I wasn't quite sure what it was when I first saw it, " sez Biff Balmington, a local taxidermist, "it was pretty odd-looking, almost hairless with dry, rubbery skin." "I've seen and prepared most every kind of critter native to this part of the country, coyote, armadillo, walrus. It didn't really resemble anything I'd ever seen before, so I thought, hey, this might be the chupacabra." The carcass, discovered in a chicken coop, was in a bizarre, hairless condition that is symptomatic of the mange. The mange, caused by a type of mite, is a disease which is common among the walruses indigenous to West Texas. |

The taxidermist who discovered the chupacabra specimen once survived an incident where he fell bodily into his auto-taxidermy equipment. |
