Narwhal Attacks Threaten Great Lakes Shipping Lanes |

March 29th, 2009 Narwhal attacks in the Great Lakes shipping lanes are at an all time high this spring. Referring to this period as 'the happy time', the whales are enjoying unprecedented success in executing their systematic efforts to bring the shipping industry to its knees. The Coast Guard is employing a variety of countermeasures including planes and the newly fitted Tusking Cutters in a bid to at least suppress the narwhal activity. |

Narwhals frolic happily as they await the demise of an ore boat they have just "hulled" outside the safety of Duluth harbor. Their tusks often become badly bent in these attacks. |
