April 4th, 2010 Biff Blymphatic was understandably upset when his doctor told him that because of his enlarged spleen, he would need to undergo a splenectomy. "You can live withouth a spleen", his doctor explained, "it's no big deal." And that was that, or would have been if Biff hadn't been the tenacious type of person that is always seeking to turn a setback into something positive. "After thinking about my predicament, and the upcoming surgery, I found myself wondering...if you get a quarter for putting a tooth under your pillow, what would be the return on something on a larger scale, say a gall bladder or a spleen." "Consequently I made sure to have the doctor save my spleen after its removal, and I promptly put it under my pillow after I returned home from the hospital." Little did Biff know that he was about to become the beneficiary of an ancient rivalry. It seems that for years the Spleen Fairy had looked on with intense jealousy as the popular Tooth Fairy had dispensed petty change in payment for loosened teeth placed under the pillow at night. No one had ever thought to put a spleen under their pillow, and no one knew of the vast cash reserves that had been building up in the Spleen Fairy's domains. Suffice it to say, Biff woke up a very, very, wealthy man the next day. |
